Our new government has taken the sensible and long-overdue decision to abolish home information packs. That means that from now on there should be no delays in getting your property on the market. STAMP DUTY CONCESSION FOR FIRST TIME BUYERS
This is another potential boost to the property market. If you are a first time buyer, then you will not have to pay stamp duty land tax on a purchase up to £250,000. The threshhold remains £125,000 for second and subsequent purchasers and it is unlikely that will change for the foreseeable future. Let us hope that our new goverment does not lift this concession for first time buyers at least for a year or so. Young people find it hard enough to raise the money for a deposit on their first home, without having to pay stamp duty as well. The coffers of the bank of Mum and Dad can only stretch so far.......!
