Probate and Estate Administration

Where there is a Will then usually there is the need for an application for a Grant of Probate Where there is no Will (i.e. the deceased has died intestate) then a Grant of Letters of Administration should be sought.

Castle Gates

In a few cases, where the total estate is very modest, then a Grant may not be necessary. In all cases we can assist with completing the forms, at a time when perhaps the family and friends of the deceased  may prefer to delegate this obligation to a sympathetic professional.

Jeremy F C Simmonds has extensive experience of this area of practice, dealing with estates amounting to anything from under £10,000 to several million pounds.

He will do all that is required at all stages in the process from the initial collation of  information about  assets and values, through the completion of  the appropriate tax forms, and drafting the application for Probate, to dealing with HMRC (in Inheritance Tax cases), then collecting in assets on the Executors’ behalf and making distributions to beneficiaries and producing detailed Estate Accounts for the Executors’ approval.

Where appropriate he will also  advise on Deeds of Variation and Disclaimer.
