Residence
This is exactly what it sounds like: where the child lives.
Sometimes, we can have what are called “joint residence orders”, usually where the child spends a substantial proportion of his or her time with both parents, and though once rare this kind of arrangement is becoming increasingly common and favoured by the courts.
Usually, if the parents can agree some arrangement, there is no need for any Court Order anyway.

Child Support
Currently the law relating to child support is in flux. The Child Support Agency can still be responsible for assessing child support payments, but parentsare encouraged to reach aggreement, and the Court has no jurisdiction to make any order for child support where the parents are not in agreement. The new options are explained fully on a website: www.cmoptions.org
Information is also still available on the Child Support Agency website whose address is : http://www.csa.gov.uk/ The enforcement of child support assessments is now the responsibility of the Child Maintenance and Enforcemant Commission whose website is www.childmaintenance.org.
Child support must always been seen in isolation from other matters relating to the children, particularly contact.
